Art Group

Society of Chrishall Artists (SOCA)

No – not the Serious Organised Crime Agency!

We currently meet every other month on a Tuesday evening 7.30pm to 10.00pm in the Methodist Hall. We limit the numbers to 14 per session. Contact Helen or Caroline below for details.

Cost per person is £18 pa to cover hall rental and refreshments. Additional fees are charged when we have to pay for a tutor or extra materials. Details are given in advance of the session.

The start

The Society was founded by Caroline Fookes and Helen Melville-Smith in 2005.

After a successful Masterclass with local artist Geraldine Rand a group of artistic villagers asked Caroline and Helen to set up a series of practical art classes in the village. Recent sessions have included the following:

29th April 2008 Charcoal line drawing – with tutor Geraldine Rand

24th June 2008 Sketching outside in the village

26th August 2008 Still Life – any media

28th October 2008 Clay – with tutor Esther Joseph
