A new scheme offers grants and loans for energy efficiency and renewables in private homes to residents in West Essex and Hertfordshire.
Do you want to improve the energy efficiency of your home or generate your own energy? The Herts Essex Energy Partnership (HEEP) is a new scheme designed to help you do just that, offering a one stop-shop for getting measures and financial support.
As well as having free measures available for those on benefits, the scheme offers everyone else:
* £99 loft or cavity wall insulation (subject to survey)
* Basic draught-proofing, hot water tank insulation and improved heating controls
Grants and interest free loans to cover 50% of the cost of
* Solar water heating
* Solar PV (electricity)
* Air and ground source heat pumps
* Wood pellet stoves and wood boilers
* Solid wall insulation (internal or external)
* And other advanced insulation measures
…when fitted into existing private homes
The interest free loans are repaid on sale of the property, with no time limit.

The scheme is an initiative of 15 local authorities in West Essex (Uttlesford, Harlow, Epping, Brentwood and Chelmsford districts) and Hertfordshire, and has £6.63M of funding from the East of England Regional Assembly for 2 years. The scheme draws in and integrates funding from other existing sources, making access to this funding as simple as possible for householders. Installers working under the scheme work to strict standards and pre-negotiated pricing structures to ensure customers get quality improvements at reasonable prices.
