Irene Cranwell memorial trophy

On Friday July 9th a trophy in memory of Irene Cranwell was presented to Chrishall School by Chrishall Parish Council on behalf of the village.

Irene Cranwell was for many years a pillar of Chrishall village life as a teacher, parish councillor and choral singer among other roles. in addition she was well known in much of East Anglia through her broadcasts on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Prior to her death in January, just six weeks before her 100th birthday, she was keen to set up an award for the school to present each year to a class or group of pupils for their achievements.

The inaugural award went to the school's Eco-Squad and the trophy and certificates were presented by Mrs Cranwell's daughter, Susan Davies. Mrs Cranwell's son, Jonathan, presented a picture of their mother, with brief biographical details, to accompany the trophy.
