Pop up Saffron Screen

Saffron Screen is the local cinema in Saffron Walden which from time to time is hosted by more local venues such as the Chrishall Village Hall.

The Village Hall Committee arranged a screening of Slumdog Millionaire in the Chapel Hall on Saturday evening, 30th January 2016, in conjunction with Saffron Screen.

The doors opened 45 minutes before the show and a bar and Indian snacks were provided, allowing ticket holders to relax and socialise before the event. The film has its harrowing moments but there is a happy ending and an enjoyable evening was had by all. The Committee would like to thank those villagers who were able to support our first film screening and also the staff from Saffron Screen who ensured everything went without any hitches.

In order to show more films after this trial run, the Village Hall Committee is looking for a few volunteers to set up a Film Club at the Village Hall in conjunction with Saffron Screen. This would entail conferring with Saffron Screen to decide upon a film to show (perhaps twice a year) and arranging refreshments and publicity. Saffron Screen organise the ticketing and staff on the night.

If you are interested, please contact Guy Rackham on 838453 or one of the other Committee Members to indicate your interest in developing this opportunity.
