Women's Institute

Chrishall Women’s Institute meets at Chrishall Village Hall on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm and new members and guests are always welcome to join us.

Joining WI is a great way to get to know other people from the local area, make new friends and catch up with old ones. Chrishall WI currently has 26 members who come from Elmdon and Duddenhoe End as well as from Chrishall.

Our monthly meetings are organised around a speaker or activity, information for members, and social time when members can chat to each other over a hot drink and cake. We have a varied programme of speakers and have enjoyed talks on a variety of interesting subjects from medical detection dogs, to the history of women’s underwear! We try to have something for everyone to enjoy, so some talks are more serious and informative, whereas others are more light-hearted and amusing. Alternatively we may organise a hands-on activity session, and have recently enjoyed craft sessions making necklaces, and making delicious confectionary. Each year members also enjoy a party at Christmas with food and wine, a Christmas meal out at a local pub, a cheese and wine AGM evening, an evening outing in June to somewhere of local interest, and an autumn supper in September.

The Cambridge Federation of Women’s Institutes also organise an interesting programme of outings, social events, competitions and new activities to try, which our members are invited to participate in. Details of the latest events can be found Here or you can follow them on Facebook

WI members can also attend day and residential courses at Denman College in Oxfordshire. Details of courses available can be found at Denman
