Bus timetables:
For a village bus timetable for Chrishall click here . This timetable was believed to be correct at the time of writing but if your journey is essential please check with the service operator before travelling. Also please advise this web site of any changes to the timetable that are observed.

Children aged 5 – 15 travel at half-fare and children under 5 travel free.
Concessionary bus passes may be used and must be shown to the driver on boarding.

Concessionary passes:
Older people become eligible for free bus travel at the female age of retirement. If you were born before 6 April 1950 you are eligible for a concessionary pass.

If you were born between 7 April 1950 and the 5 April 1955 please use the eligibility calculator on the Essex County Council website.

Changes to Bus Services in Chrishall

From April 10th 2016 bus services serving Chrishall (service numbers 10, Saffron Walden and 62, Bishop’s Stortford) are being replaced by a demand response service called DaRT 1, provided by Arrows Taxis (Essex) ltd.

What is a Demand Responsive Transport?
Demand Responsive Transport (DaRT) is an alternative way of providing access to key services in rural areas.

Instead of using fixed routes with fixed stops and times, DaRT customers book journeys with the operator in advance and are picked up from an agreed point – often their own home, a bus stop or local place of interest. You can use it:
•to go shopping
•attend a health appointment
•get to/from work, school or college
•visit friends

When does it operate?
DaRT 1 operates between 0600 and 2000 hours, Monday to Saturday. Unlike a bus service there are no set timetables.

How do I book a journey?
Telephone Arrow Taxis Essex Ltd on 01621 874 411 and explain
•where you would like to go
•where you would like to be collected rom
•what time you need to go (please give at least 2 hours notice before travelling)

The operator will also need to know:
•your name
•your telephone number
•any specific requirements, such as if you are a wheelchair user or you have difficulty walking

It is advisable to book you r return journey at the same time as your initial booking otherwise you will need to give 2 hours’ notice for your return journey.

Remember to be ready when you are due to be collected.

Concessionary bus pass holders can travel for free after 0900 Monday to Friday and all day Saturday.

Cash on the bus or by debit/credit card over the telephone.

Where will it cover?

You can travel to and from anywhere within the parishes listed below, between these parishes, and also direct to Saffron Walden town, Bishops Stortford town, healthcare facilities in Royston & Barley, Essex and Herts Hospital as well as the closest train stations.
The following parishes are included in DaRT 1.

•Quendon and Rickling (areas not directly served by 301)
•Wenden Lofts
•Wicken Bonhunt
